John Lee Hooker (22 de agosto de 1917 - 21 de junho de 2001) foi um influente cantor e guitarrista de blues americano, nascido em Clarksdale, Mississipi.
A carreira de Hooker começou em 1948 quando alcançou sucesso com a música "Boogie Chillen", apresentando um estilo meio falado que se tornaria a sua marca registrada. Ritmicamente, a sua música era bastante livre, uma característica que tinha em comum com os primeiros músicos de blues. O Seu estilo casual e falado seria diminuído com o surgimento de bandas de blues eléctrico de Chicago mas, mesmo quando não estava tocando sozinho, Hooker mantinha as características primordiais do seu som.
Ele o fez, entretanto, levando adiante uma carreira solo, ainda mais popular devido ao surgimento de aficcionados por blues e música folk no começo dos anos 60 - inclusive passou a ser mais conhecido entre o público branco, e deu uma oportunidade ao iniciante Bob Dylan. Outro destaque da sua carreira aconteceu em 1989, quando se juntou a diversos convidados, incluindo Keith Richards e Carlos Santana, para a gravação de "The Healer", que acabaria ganhando um Grammy.
Hooker gravou mais de 100 álbuns e viveu os últimos anos de sua vida em São Francisco, onde era dono de um clube nocturno chamado "Boom Boom Room", nome este inspirado num dos seus sucessos.
